Flowers Plantation Christmas Tree Lighting
Special thanks to all who attended our 15th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting!
On Sunday, December 4 Flowers Plantation was proud to present the 15th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. We had a great celebration with our neighbors and community. Which included crafts and hot chocolate for the kids. We also had lovely musical performances of Christmas classics from The Academy of Music and Vocal Arts as well as a reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas to get us all in the Christmas Spirit!

We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please enjoy these images and videos from the event.
Mattamy is partnering with the USMC and their Operation Toy Drop event this holiday season!

Toys for Lil Troops provides toys to the children of low income and deployed troops. RIGHT NOW, Over 5,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne are deployed, and we will be servicing their families with food and toys.

Operation Toy Drop is scheduled for Saturday, December 18th at the Raeford Airport where paratrooper families of the 82nd Airborne Division will receive toys from the Toys for Lil Troops program. We appreciate and thank you for any and all donations that you are able to contribute!

Johnston County Widening Requires Temporary Intersection Closure
The ongoing widening of N.C. 42 east of Clayton will require a seven-day closure of Pineville Boulevard near the Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center.

The closure will begin Monday morning, December 13, where Pineville Boulevard intersects the highway. The short detour will be Flowers Commerce Drive and Buffalo Road, which drivers will be able to easily use to travel between N.C. 42 and the shopping center.

The closure is needed to allow contract workers to safely tie in the widened highway where it meets Pineville Boulevard, which is scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. Dec. 20. An N.C. Department of Transportation began widening N.C. 42 between Buffalo Road and Glen Laurel Road under a $58 million contract awarded in late 2018. The widening and other roadway improvements are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

The Once-A-Year To-Do List
What should you try to accomplish in 2022? Goals don't have to all be mountains, but when we plan the little, necessary things, it can make our lives easier, save money and free up our time and mental energy for the big things we'd rather focus on.

  • Get your wheels checked. Properly aligned wheels saves money on repairs later.
  • Replace your smoke detector batteries. It takes a few minutes at most and can save your life in a fire.
  • Call “the guy.” You should get your HVAC system, roof, appliances and pipes inspected regularly to prevent little problems from turning into huge, expensive repairs later.
  • Get your teeth, skin and eyes checked. Talk to your doctor about any other regular recommended checkups.
  • Take your pets the veterinarian. Pets need checkups too, as well as annual vaccinations and blood work to identify any potential problems.
  • Clean out your closets. Get rid of old stuff that you don’t wear anymore and make room for new things that you actually like.
  • Take a deep dive into your finances. Are you meeting your savings goals? Is there an unnecessary expense that can be trimmed?
  • Do something for yourself. Go on a trip, build and renew your connections with others, do things that make you happy. Think of it as a bill that comes due every month or so, and if you don’t pay up, you’ll regret it.
